BETA explores equestrian market at China Horse Fair

The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) has returned from a successful trade mission to the China Horse Fair, held from 22 to 24 October in Beijing, where it accompanied a small party of British companies that were keen to explore the potential presented by the country’s developing equestrian market.
“This was our third visit to this growing event and we were very pleased with the quality of visitors,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “There were definite signs of developing knowledge and experience, even though there is still a long way to go.
“It was notable that we were taking more serious enquiries and we were frequently asked for British trainers by representatives from equestrian centres. There were also a number of larger projects, with an interest in horse breeding, and the protocol signed this year for the live export of horses from the UK to China brought a high level of enquiries, which we wouldn’t have seen prior to that.”
The trade mission, funded by United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI), included companies such as Martin Collins, Botanica and Vale Brothers, with Neue Schule and Horslyx taking their places on the BETA stand.
Those unable to attend the three-day trade fair, yet wishing to enjoy a presence there, were represented by BETA, which displayed products and literature, and provided information and contacts on their behalf.
With its considerable experience of overseas shows and global export markets, BETA is able to offer advice and support for companies seeking to develop export markets and can help to secure funding for eligible companies keen to take part in delegations for overseas shows.
BETA’s next visit is planned for later in the month, when it flies out to Melbourne, Australia, for Equitana Asia Pacific, from 20 to 23 November.
