BETA presents RDA National Award

British Equestrian Trade Association executive director Claire Williams presented the Sainsbury’s Watchmoor Park branch, in Surrey, with the Business Partnership National Award to mark staff’s Riding for the Disabled Association fundraising achievements.
The accolade, sponsored by BETA for the second year running, was given out during the RDA’s annual Gala Awards at the Hotel Russell, London. The Camberley store, which raised more than £16,000, was nominated by the charity’s group based at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
“We were extremely impressed by the huge amount of money raised – and the thought that went into each initiative,” said Claire. “Not only were there in-store tombolas, raffles and bag-packing, but also sponsored walks, a daredevil motorcycle event and a cyclathon.
“BETA is very proud to have supported this worthwhile award and delighted that it has been won by such a deserving team of people.”
The Business Partnership honour was one of six awards presented at the RDA event, which was hosted by Clare Balding, and celebrates the charity’s riders, volunteers, horses and supporters. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner and an auction with lots including a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the Spanish Riding School’s UK performances. The evening raised more than £20,000 for the RDA.
