BETA Presents Winning RDA Award
BETA executive director Claire Williams was pleased to present the winner of the RDA Business Partnership National Award 2013 with their trophy at a glittering ceremony at London’s Plaisterers’ Hall.
The BETA-sponsored accolade is one of the prestigious RDA Gala Awards and was won by Severn Trent Water, which was nominated by Lowlands Farm RDA, Shrewley, Warwickshire.
“It was amazing to hear of the remarkable help Severn Trent has extended to Lowlands Farm,” said Claire. “From extensive fundraising initiatives through to substantial exploratory work to locate and repair leaking pipes – saving the farm thousands of pounds – and the construction of a concrete base for a stable to house its mechanical horse.
“BETA was extremely proud to have supported this very worthwhile award and we are delighted that it has been won by such a deserving team of people.”
This is the first time that the award had been included in the RDA event, set up to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the charity’s participants, volunteers and supporters. Guests were treated to a three-course meal and an after-dinner speech by TV presenter, writer and broadcaster Clare Balding. A live auction with prizes such as tickets to the F1 Grand Prix, the FA Cup Final at Wembley and a luxury stay in the Cotswolds helped to boost RDA funds.
