BETA launches campaign to improve feeding knowledge

The British Equestrian Trade Association is set to launch BETA Feed Awareness Week – a new annual campaign to help dispel feeding myths and improve consumer knowledge of equine nutrition. It will run from 10 to 18 November, just as the feed season gets into full swing.

This nationwide initiative is supported by leading equestrian organisations such as the British Horse Society, the Pony Club and British Riding Clubs, and BETA retail members who will be promoting BETA Feed Awareness Week in-store and online. Consumers will find further details and a list of participating retailers and feed companies on the BETA website, beta-uk.org. They can also join BETA's extensive social media campaign using the #BFAW18 hashtag.

The campaign will reach out to horse owners and riders through print and digital platforms, and include social media competitions, nutritional information and advice from leading equine nutritionists, and top feeding tips from some of the sport's most famous competition riders.

“BETA Feed Awareness Week is a tremendous opportunity for consumers to access sound nutritional advice,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “By focusing on good feed practice, separating fact from fiction and helping them to make more informed choices when it comes to buying their feed and supplements, the campaign will play a powerful role in raising awareness of equine nutritional welfare.”
