Equine Committee (Dormant)

The Equine Committee was set up to administer the VAT Second Hand scheme on behalf of HM Customs. The scheme is administered through the purchase of Official forms produced by BETA which were made voluntary in 1999. The committee also acts as an advisory committee on equine matters to all other BETA committees. It speaks on behalf of equine businesses and conveys their interests and opinions to Council and other Sub committees. It monitors relevant legislation.

Its Terms of Reference are:

• To administer the VAT second hand scheme as agreed with HM Customs.
• To negotiate with HM Customs and Government when necessary.
• To advise Council and other committees on equine matters including legislation.
