Have you got a very special photograph or want an excuse to take more photos of your favourite equines? If so, make sure you enter BETA’s annual photo calendar competition!

We are looking for 12 exceptional photos to feature in our calendar.

Images are selected by BETA Council Members to represent each month and a ‘best in show’ is awarded to one entrant.

All photographs must have been taken by the person who enters and professional photographers are not allowed to enter.

The spirit of the competition is to encourage fairness, creativity and enthusiasm to capture and share special equine moments.

Ideally, photographs will be in landscape orientation and images can be taken using high quality mobile phone cameras.

Images must not be subject to copyright and should be supplied in a digital format of at least 1722x1358PX / 300DPI / 2MB.

T&Cs BETA Photo Calendar Competition 2027
  1. The competition will see 12 images chosen, with each selected by the judges to represent a different month of the year. The entrant submitting the image judged Best in Show will win a prize.
  2. The winning picture might also feature across our website, social media platforms and other media, as well as being used within other imaging, documentation and items associated with
  3. All photographs must have been taken by the entrant, who must not be a professional photographer, i.e. one who makes a living from selling their images. Photographs belonging to a third party should not be submitted. It is important that all images have been taken by you, not a third party. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in disqualification of the photograph and any other photographs submitted by that entrant.
  4. Photographs must be supplied in a digital format with a minimum size of 150 x 115mm (1,722 x 1,358px), 300 dpi, or at least 2MB, and must not be subject to copyright.
  5. Entries should be equestrian-themed and not include any image of an identifiable person.
  6. The horse, pony or donkey photographed should be your own, or you must have the permission of the owner to submit the image;
  7. The winning image may not be used in its entirety – it may be cropped;
  8. Images should be emailed to info@beta-uk.org or entered via the online Google Form https://forms.gle/g8c8yKGwnkBuebzJ7. The form will request the entrant’s name, address, telephone number, confirmation that they are over 18 years of age, a description of what is depicted and the image. Only one image may be submitted in each entry, entrants may make more than one entry;
  9. Deadline for entries is 16 September 2026.
  10. The winner will be notified by email as soon as a decision has been made.
  11. Entrants of photographs selected for inclusion in the calendar will be notified by email as soon as a decision has been made.
  12. The following judging criteria will be used: composition; clarity; originality; audience appeal; and suitability for purpose;
  13. The entrant details supplied by you will be held on file by BETA for the sole purpose of administering the competition and for a further two years for the legitimate purpose of getting in touch with you regarding your entry. After this, your details and images will be deleted, apart from the winner’s images and details. Entrants will also be given the opportunity for their image and details to be passed to the National Equine Forum programme cover competition for the 35th National Equine Forum, on Thursday 04 March 2027.

  14. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. There is no alternative (including cash) to the prize offered.
